Week of October 23-27

Good Evening Pugh Tribe!

We have a lot going on this week.  Red Ribbon Week begins Wednesday with the poster competition. During our conference week meetings, the information for Red Ribbon Week was given out in the folders I gave you with resources.  I have also attached an image of the flyer to the post.  There will be a prize for the best poster per grade level!

As a school, we are collecting change for United Way this week.  If you are able to, please donate loose change to United Way.  The grade level that raises the most will receive a movie day and popcorn party!

Students have recorded their homework into their agenda. As we go into this week for homework, the math practice sheet is a good way for students to practice the math strategies for multiplication as well as other standards we have learned about this year. Starting this week, students will not have a printed copy of a reading log. Each night before you sign your students agenda, please record how long they read and the title of the book that they read in their agenda Monday through Thursday.

Just a reminder, next week on the 31st is Character Day. Please remember that your student should come to school as a book character. No masks or accessories are allowed to be brought to school as a distraction from learning.

This week in math, we are reviewing multiplication strategies such as equal groups, repeated addition, and arrays. We will begin focusing on strategies to help understand multiplying single-digit numbers by multiples of 10. Here is a document with an example that I will be teaching later this week.  http://www.hand2mind.com/pdf/hos/hos-cce-online/e78864_HOS_CCE_Grade%203/e78864_CCE_3_NBT4.pdf

Thank you for reading through all of this information. Hope you all have a wonderful week!

-Ms. Pugh
