Week of December 3rd!

Happy Monday Pugh Tribe!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. For all of my Alabama fans out there ROLL TIDE. We have a very busy week so you do not want to be absent this week. HOLIDAY SHOP TOMORROW 9:00-9:45 am make sure your student brings their money to school if they want to purchase something. Here is a sneak peak into what is going on in class...

Math: We are diving into addition patterns using addition tables over the next few days to highlight the standard OA.9. To better evaluate how the students are doing with each standard, I will assess them on Thursday and create our Math Groups for next week based on additional practice needed or extension for those that already know the standards. Here is a link to some additional examples.

Reading: Based on my evaluation of the class last week, we will start today with more Text Features practice. Tomorrow, we will move into discussing Cause and Effect, Sequence of Events, and Compare/Contrasting. I want to encourage the Pugh Tribe to begin reading Nonfiction books at home if they have not already. This will help support the learning we are doing in class with text features and facts that we gather by reading nonfiction texts.

Homework Folder: New month means new homework calendars. I have put the red December homework in each folder. Please make sure that your students are taking their time completing the problem each day. I have observed some that have skipped multiple days and occasionally I have seen them solving the problems on the homework calendar and not on the notebook paper. Parents, if you could check to make sure that they are solving them on notebook paper in their red folders, I would greatly appreciate it.

Attendance: Over the past few weeks, we have had a lot of absences in the Pugh Tribe. Due to these absences, your student has missed a lot of instructional time in class. I want to encourage every student to be here on time each and every school day. The work that has been missed is very difficult to find time to make up and will result in some work being completed during our recess time. We are coming close to the end of the 2nd quarter and I want to ensure that all students meet the standards being taught for each subject. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this.

Holiday Party: I am happy to announce that our Holiday Party will be on the 17th from 9:30-11:00 am. We will be building Gingerbread Houses in our STEM groups and enjoying some pancakes. We would love to have you come for our party, I have attached a link to our Sign up Genius that has a list of donations we need for our gingerbread houses and pancakes. This link also asks for you to RSVP so I will know a general amount of people to prepare for in the classroom. A letter with this information will be sent home today in Take Home Folders. If you are a pancake enthusiast, I would really appreciate your help with making them during our party this year! Hope to see you all on the 17th!!!

Weekly Work Packet: Due to the abundance of work completed, I am sending home a weekly work packet today. Please review your students work with them and return no later than Wednesday signed.

I know it is a lot of information. I appreciate you taking the time to read through all of the updates for the week.

Have a Marvelous Monday,

-Ms. Pugh
