Week of May 13th
Happy Monday Pugh Tribe!
We had a blast at our End of Year Party today! Thank you for your continual support and encouragement this school year. This is a wonderful group of students and I am excited to see what the future holds for these young minds. Here is a look into what the last few days of the school year look like.
Tuesday, May 14th: We will be continuing with 2-step word problems and continuing to practice their math fact fluency. In reading, we will be reviewing how to identify the main idea of a text when read aloud. The class will be taking the Reading Inventory (RI) this afternoon. Please make sure you are present all day throughout the week.
Wednesday, May 15th: We will be practicing parts of speech and writing in complete sentences. We will be editing our narrative from last week and looking ahead to writing a final draft/typing.
Thursday, May 16th: We will be finishing our last day of 2-step word problems before being assessed on our understanding of the standard. The class will take the Math Inventory (MI) this afternoon. We will be practicing a little more for the final timed multiplication test. In reading, we will be taking a look at point of view in stories.
Friday, May 17th: We will have our final timed multiplication test. We will not have a spelling test this week. However, we will be spending our writing time working on cursive and writing in complete sentences using legible cursive letters.
Monday, May 20th: We will have Ice Cream Day, as a grade level, we will be hosting an ice cream sundae party to celebrate student success with multiplication facts. The whole day will be themed as ice cream. Students will be bringing all of their folders and notebooks home today.
Tuesday, May 21st: Beach Day-We will be bringing beach towels to read "on the beach". We will have a little celebration outside during recess to celebrate our success in reading. (1/2 day-no backpack)
Wednesday, May 22nd: Popcorn and a Movie Day- Students are to leave everything at home. No backpacks. We will be celebrating our narrative authors by showing a story on the big screen and eating some delicious popcorn. This is the last day of school and it is a 1/2 day.
We have some exciting days ahead. Please make sure your student is present and on time each day. Let's make these last 7 days count!
Best wishes,
Ms. Pugh
