Week of September 17th

Hello Pugh Tribe!

Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful Monday. Just a few reminders and videos for the week.

Math: I am excited to begin our focus on multiplication and division. We will be focusing primarily on the Repeated Addition and Equal Groups strategies for multiplication this week. Then, we will move into division and focus on Repeated Subtraction and Equal Groups for division strategies. Here are two videos for you to reference for examples for each operation.

 Reading: This week, we will be looking at uncovering meanings of unknown words using Context Clues. Please make sure to help encourage your student to solve for the meaning of unknown words in their individual books and not skip words they do not know. Also, don't forget to log your student's reading in their agenda!

Testing: You all should be very proud of your student. They have all been working very hard the past few days on the IOWA testing. Tomorrow is our final day of testing. Make sure your student gets plenty of rest tonight and eats a good meal in the morning.

Weekly Work Packets: Your student's bi-weekly work packet will come home this Friday. Please review their work with them and sign the pink slip. Place the entire packet back in their Take Home Folder to be returned to school the Monday we come back.

Social Studies: Over the past 3 weeks, we have been learning about the Three Branches of Government for both the National and State levels. In your student's Take Home Folder, you will find a study guide. I have encouraged every student to look over the material to help prepare for our assessment on Friday over the Three Branches of Government. They are encouraged to keep it in their Take Home Folder so we can reference the material this week during Social Studies as a review.

Good Morning Pugh Tribe! Happy Warm-Hearted Wednesday ! We have had a very busy week so I apologize for just now posting. Here is a look at the rest of the week. Week of February 25th

Good Morning Pugh Tribe! I hope you all had a restful Winter Break. We had a great first day back yesterday! Here is a look into what is happening in the Pugh Tribe this week. Math: We were introduced to line plots yesterday and will continue line plots through most of the week. Week of January 14th

Happy Monday Pugh Tribe! Its been a few weeks since my last blog post. I hope you all had a very restful weekend. We are beginning a lot of exciting new units in 3rd grade this week. Here is a look into what we will be learning over the next few weeks. Math: We began fractions last week by taking a look at key vocabulary such as numerator and denominator. From there, we moved into what a unit fraction is and how to partition shapes to represent unit fractions. This week, we will be building off of unit fractions and looking at partitioning number lines to represent fractions.
