Week of September 4th

Hello Pugh Tribe!

Hope everyone enjoyed their long Labor Day weekend! I am so happy to have the Pugh Tribe back today. Just a few things I want to update you all on a few things happening this week. Please read all the way through!!!

Math: We are finishing up addition strategies and moving into subtraction strategies. I have not been able to find a video on the two strategies (Counting On and Counting Back). However, students homework does not reflect these two strategies this week but I will send home examples for future problems. We will be spending two days on one strategy and then move on to the other strategy.

Reading: This week and going into next week, we will be looking at different parts of stories, dramas, and poems. We will learn new terminology and see how the different parts help to make the whole. Don't forget to log your students reading in their agenda every night and initial!

Progress Reports: Progress Reports will be sent home tomorrow in your student's take home folder. Please read over their grades so far and sign/return the Progress Report by Friday. This is to show how they are doing so far this year, this is not their final grade for the quarter. We are all progressing towards meeting the standard for writing personal narratives. They are looking good so far!

Homework Folders: Parents please help remind your student to write in pencil and not take over the whole page to solve one days problem. We should practice using our space on notebook paper for multiple problems. Since we are in a new month, their is a September Calendar in their Homework Folder.

CogAT Testing: ALL of 3rd grade will be taking the CogAT test starting tomorrow through Friday. Your student needs to be here on time all of these days. The tests will not be all day but will take up the morning time. Please refer to the letter sent home last week for more information.

Thank you for reading all the way through. Have a Terrific Tuesday!!!
-Ms. Pugh
