Week of March 11th

Happy Marvelous Monday!

As we move into test prep, we have a few changes to our schedule. Mondays we will be getting a laptop cart to work on our typing skills, not only for test prep but as an addition to writing for standards. Along with more time on the computers, we will also be working on a few more reading problems for homework each night. As a 3rd grade team, we have assigned a reading passage each week with a few questions for Monday through Thursday. I will be going over this daily with the class to clarify any misconceptions. This will be our main homework, for additional Class Dojo points, I will be looking at homework calendars every Friday.

So here is a look at the week:

Math: Based on data from our unit assessments, I wanted to spend more of last week working on multiplication and division facts. So this week, we will be focusing on 2 step word problems and explaining the steps we took to solve the problem. Perimeter is a standard we will focus on in the 4th quarter so we will just look over it briefly as an introduction this week.

Reading: This week, we are reviewing text organization such as sequence, cause and effect, and compare/contrast. Thursday and Friday, we will be reviewing text features in an informational piece and search tools online. I complete our progress monitoring DRA2s and I am so proud of the growth that the Pugh Tribe is showing in their reading comprehension, you will get to see this growth on the report cards that will be sent home on Friday, March 22nd.

Early Release: We will have early release this Wednesday, March 13th at 12:30. Please plan accordingly for dismissal changes.

Spelling Words: The spelling words for this week follow the pattern of ending in -ed.
1. 1. slipped
2. grabbed
3. stopped
4. tripped
5. knotted
6. rubbed
7. whizzed
8. called
9. watched
10. cheered
11. dreamed
12. traded
13. liked
14. stared
15. tasted
We will have our spelling assessment on Friday. Make sure to complete the Spelling Practice for accuracy as well as a few Class Dojo points!

That is all that I have for this week.

Have a Marvelous Monday,

Ms. Pugh
