Week of March 11th

Happy Marvelous Monday! As we move into test prep, we have a few changes to our schedule. Mondays we will be getting a laptop cart to work on our typing skills, not only for test prep but as an addition to writing for standards. Along with more time on the computers, we will also be working on a few more reading problems for homework each night. As a 3rd grade team, we have assigned a reading passage each week with a few questions for Monday through Thursday. I will be going over this daily with the class to clarify any misconceptions. This will be our main homework, for additional Class Dojo points, I will be looking at homework calendars every Friday. So here is a look at the week: Math: Based on data from our unit assessments, I wanted to spend more of last week working on multiplication and division facts. So this week, we will be focusing on 2 step word problems and explaining the steps we took to solve the problem. Perimeter is a standard we will focus on in the 4th quarter

We will begin perimeter tomorrow and continue through Friday. The following week, we will be doing word problems to finish out the quarter. Reading: This week, we are looking at standard RI.2 which is identifying the main idea in an informational text. We had a great first lesson and will be building on that information throughout the rest of the week. In grammar, we are looking at using commas in addresses and using context clues to find the meaning of unknown words or words with multiple meanings. Picture Day: Tomorrow at 9:10 am we will be taking our class picture. Make sure to send in the form or I believe there is a way to pay online! Social Studies Test: Tomorrow, we will be taking an assessment on the Age of Discovery including all of the European Explorers that we have learned about. We
