Week of October 15th

Good Afternoon Pugh Tribe! I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful Monday. Here is an outline of the week for the Pugh Tribe. Math: We will continue to review the arrays strategy for solving multiplication problems. I showed the students a learn zillion video to review this strategy. Here is the link: https://learnzillion.com/lesson_plans/7860-solve-multiplication-problems-by-drawing-an-array/lesson Reading: We are starting a new unit on nonfiction text and using text features to help build our understanding of the text. This will lead into the opportunity to read both fiction chapter books and nonfiction texts during our independent reading time in class. Progress Reports

Good Morning Pugh Tribe! Progress Reports are going home today with your student. They need to be returned to school with your student on Monday. I have provided an incentive of 5 class dojo points for each student that returns it on Monday! I am also sending home the 2nd quarter homework packets. These are yours to keep at home. From here on, the homework packets will have a pastel green parent signature page. We changed the color for the 3rd quarter so that we could send home the 2nd quarter packets for you to keep. Week of Oct. 30th - Nov. 3rd

Good Afternoon! As we begin this exciting week I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed seeing all of the students participation in Red Ribbon Week. Tomorrow is our final day of Red Ribbon Week. The whole school will be dressing as their favorite book characters. I have my costume ready to go as I hope your children are getting excited too. You will be receiving a phone call tonight with more information about our parade and literacy activity to follow. As a reminder, no students are allowed to dress up with a scary face such as fake blood. No accessories or masks are allowed since they can be a distraction to classroom instruction. This week in math, we have been reviewing multiples of 10s as well as introducing 2 step word problems for this unit. I have attached the anchor chart with an example that I will be completing with the students starting on Wednesday.
